Hello wine growers of Maine!
I am Susan Clause. Recently my husband John and I became the owners of the property in Morrill, Maine upon which the Workshop Winery was established about four years ago. We have decided to reclaim the land and go in another direction with our new beautiful property. Thus, we need to disassemble the entire vineyard. We must sell this year’s grape harvest, all of the vineyard wood posts and metal fittings, and the winery equipment which includes 6 barrels, 2 brand new silver wine vats and more. There may be various other items for sale as well. If interested I would be happy to send you photos.
.
The vineyard has 479 Marquette vines and 121 L’Acadie Blanc vines. There are 21 rows which were planted between 2017 and 2019, so the vines are young and newly mature for wine making. The owners estimated a yield of 885 bottles of wine from the Marquette and 250 bottles from the L’Acadie Blanc. For some reason, the owners never harvested the grapes to make wine. The 2023 harvest was sold to cider makers. We need to sell everything; the grapes, the vineyard and wine making equipment, and we would love to sell the young vines rather than see them wasted.
It is important for us to sell everything ASAP since we are turning the beautiful new wine barn into a cottage for a family member and there are contractors waiting to begin work. We also need to immediately remove the entire vineyard since we have 5 dogs and grapes are deadly poison for dogs. It would be incredibly difficult to protect our dogs with the vines present.
We are not in the position to physically move or deliver the winery equipment or the vineyard grapes, vines and vineyard materials. We would consider giving away the posts and fittings in exchange for their removal. We would gratefully entertain creative ideas for the immediate removal of the grapes and vines.
We welcome any interested parties to visit the property by appointment only after Monday, September 30. Please contact me to set up an appointment. I prefer to receive a text or email (since I often dismiss unfamiliar phone calls as spam).
Thank you for your interest and any leads you may have that will assist us in the disassembling of our vineyard and wine-making items.
I look forward to hearing from interested individuals!
